What closet door work costs
Closet door repairs are a visit. A closet door rehung along with a front door repaint in Annapolis was $150 this August, labor and materials, one stop. New doors are priced per opening, the doors and hardware on the materials line, and a bedroom with three closets gets one setup charge, not three.

What moves the price
- Repair or new doors. Pivots, guides and rollers are cheap parts on the truck, so a rehang is quick. New doors add the door cost and the time to cut them to a crooked opening.
- The opening itself. Older closets in Silver Spring and Hyattsville are rarely square, so the doors get scribed and trimmed, which takes longer than a new build opening in Ashburn.
- Hardware grade. A stock bifold track and a soft close barn door track are far apart in price, and a mirror door is heavier than it looks and needs the heavier track.
- Paint. Primed doors get two coats before they hang, a short second visit. Prefinished doors skip it.

Cost questions
- My bifold keeps falling off. Is it the door or the track?
- Almost always the pivot or the top guide, both of which wear out. New ones are a ten minute fix per door. The track only gets replaced when it is bent, usually from someone forcing the door back on.
- Can you turn a bifold closet into a barn door?
- Yes, if there is wall space beside the opening for the door to slide onto and no light switch in the way. We check both, mount the track into studs or a header board, and add the floor guide so the door does not swing.
- Do you take the old mirror doors away?
- Yes, they leave on the truck the same day. Old doors and tracks go with us on every closet job unless you want to keep them.
